Brothers and Sisters, From the moment we hire on, every decision affecting our pay, retirement, health insurance, working conditions, etc. is made by an elected official or someone appointed by an elected official. That holds true on the local, state, and federal level. It’s our job collectively as a union to have a seat at the table and ensure our voices are heard. Elections for State Senate, and State House are next year. We have had many successes in the state legislature over the last few years and we need to keep that momentum going. We must keep anti-union legislation at bay and continue to work on good legislation that will help our members. City elections are in October 2023, a little over 3 months away. The mayor’s seat and certain council seats will be open due to term limits. It will be here before we know. We must work together to elect a mayor and council that will fully support our efforts. In making sure our preferred candidates get elected, we must have a fund to do so. Our Political Action Fund (PAC) currently has $140,000.00 available. We're going to need a lot ore to make an impact on this year's city election. There’s currently $.50 per member per month going into that fund from dues and we have nearly 300 members voluntarily giving as well. We’re asking every member to give at least $2.00 per pay period for this fund. We’ve created an easy way to sign up to give to the PAC Fund each payday. All you have to do is click the link (https://forms.gle/KYj5XFgEGzHHYNPU7) and fill out the information. We’ll turn your form into the payroll office to start the deductions. Members who give at least $5 per payday will receive a challenge coin and those who give at least $10 a payday will receive a challenge coin and a blanket, but we’re asking everyone to give at least $2.00 per pay period. Every little bit helps. Let’s build this PAC Fund up so we can have a louder voice in the upcoming elections. Please feel free to reach out to the Union Office with ANY questions you may have.
