President

Thomas Malone

Thomas Malone joined the Memphis Fire Department November 3, 1969. As a charter member of IAFF Local 1784, President Malone was involved in many of the struggles and challenges our members have faced over the years. Brother Malone was elected Vice President of Local 1784 in 1994 and 1997, and elected President of Local 1784 in October 2000. After 34 years of service to the Memphis Fire Department, Malone retired from the MFD in 2003 and also retired as President of Local 1784. He came out of retirement in 2012 and ran for President, winning by acclamation, and has since been re-elected in 2015, 2018, and 2021, by acclamation as well. Malone also serves as a District Field Service Representative for the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Todd Conklin

Todd Conklin was elected Vice President in August 2021 and assumed office October 1, 2021. Prior to being elected Vice President, Todd served as the 40-hour Division Representative. Todd joined the Memphis Fire Department in November 1993 and currently holds the rank of Fire Inspector. Todd also serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Firefighters Emergency Relief Fund.

Matthew Tomek joined the Memphis Fire Department June 10, 2004 as a Dispatcher. Tomek was elected as one of the Trustees of Local 1784 in 2006 and in 2009, was appointed as Interim Secretary/Treasurer, filling an unexpired term. He was elected to the position in August 2009 and has since been re-elected in 2012, 2015, 2018, and 2021, all by acclamation. Matthew also serves as President of the Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association.

Danny Todd is a retired Memphis Firefighter starting his career with the MFD in 1972. He was appointed Secretary/Treasurer of Local 1784 in November 1980 and was elected President in 1994. He was also elected 14th District Vice President for the IAFF in 1994 taking office January 1995 representing IAFF members in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, and Louisiana. He retired from the Memphis Fire Deprtament in January 2001 and continues to represent IAFF members and currently serves of the Senior Board Member of the IAFF.

Mary Lee joined our staff in January 2021 and serves as Executive Assistant to the officers and Office Manager.

Jane Pressgrove

Jane has been with the Memphis Fire Fighters Association since April 2023 serving as a part-time office assistant working on special projects in the office and other duties assisting with day-to-day operations.

A Shift North Representative

A Shift South Representative

Clay was appointed A-Shift Division Representative in October 2022 filling an unexpired term. He joined the Memphis Fire Department in June 2013 and is a Lieutenant at Engine 18.

B Shift North Representative

Jeff Culp joined the Memphis Fire Department in November, 2001. He is currently assigned to Engine 33 and has served as the B Shift South Division Representative since September 2021.

C Shift North Representative

Jeremy was elected to the Board in August 2021 and took office October 1, 2021. This is Jeremy's second tenure on the board, previously serving from 2018 to 2020.

Retiree Representative

Billy Freeman

Billy Freeman was appointed to the new Retiree Representative position in November 2024. Prior to being appointed as the Retiree Rep, Freeman served as an elected Trustee for Local 1784 since 2009 and served as Secretary/Treasurer of Local 1784 from 2006 to 2009.
