Over the years, the Memphis Fire Fighters Association, IAFF Local 1784, has successfully negotiated stronger working conditions and benefits for members of the Memphis Fire Department. Below is a list of some of Local 1784's accomplishments over the years that have helped the membership to better serve the citizens and visitors of Memphis. This is not a full list of the accomplishments of the union.

• Memorandum of Understanding (MOU): Signed agreement with the mayor to set forth the negotiated benefits on behalf of Local 1784 members
• 40% in wage increases since January 2016
• Minimum staffing requirements 
• Seniority rights
• Recruit representation (under certain conditions)
• Binding arbitration
• 5% Field Training Officer (FTO) Incentive Pay 
• Overtime pay over and above federal minimums
• Swap time, sub time
• Increased vacation leave
• 3% ALS staffing incentive pay for drivers and lieutenants used to make equipment ALS
• Ability to sell vacation leave
